"Budapest, Thursday, September 4, 2025 - The Cluster Certification Board awarded official Certified Cluster titles for the first time on September 3, 2025, within the framework of the Hungarian Cluster Development Strategy adopted in November 2023. The strategy aims to increase innovation performance and strengthen networking in the driving sectors of the Hungarian economy.

The new certification system operates under the GINOP Plus 1.1.5-24 call for proposals and distinguishes between three levels: registered, industry, and innovation clusters. The titles do not come with financial support, but they are essential for access to cluster-specific schemes under GINOP Plus and other development programs.

The Cluster Certification Board evaluated the applications of twelve clusters. Nine of them received the title of Certified Cluster, while two clusters can continue their work as Registered Clusters.

Certified Clusters:

  • Innoskart Cluster – digital transformation and technology transfer
  • Hungarian Medical Cluster – healthcare technology developments
  • Software Innovation Pole Cluster – information security, ESG and sustainability
  • ArchEnerg Metal Cluster – renewable energy and international market development
  • Mirbest Central European Cluster of Gastronomic Innovation – development of gastronomic value chains
  • Hungarian Progressive Construction Cluster – joint procurement and energy optimization solutions
  • South West Hungarian Engineering Cluster – engineering vocational training and technological innovation
  • Pannon Wood and Furniture Industry Cluster – R&D and international competitiveness
  • IFood Food Industry Cluster – food economy players

Registered clusters:

  • Hungarian Cybersecurity Cluster (regional IT protection and specialist training), Biotechnology Innovation Base Cluster (academic-industrial biotechnology cooperation).

The newly certified clusters have access to policy and development tools that specifically support their international market presence, innovation projects, and structured cooperation.

The next submission period is September 25, 2025–October 9, 2025. The goal is to continue building the network of certified clusters as one of the main pillars of Hungary's competitive advantage in the national economy, to involve new players, and to strengthen the cluster structure.
